Ugly Rating™ Explained

Why We Use Faces

Let’s be honest — “rust and dents” can mean different things to different people.

So we made it simple.

We use the same face… and show how it changes from well-kept to completely worn out — just like our containers.

It’s not about beauty.
It’s about how much life it’s lived.

What Ugly Rating DOES Mean

  • How rough the container looks
  • Level of cosmetic wear
  • How “used” it appears

What Ugly Rating DOES NOT Mean

  • Structural strength
  • Security
  • Usability

All our containers — even 5/5 — are:

  • Structurally sound
  • Weather-resistant
  • Fully functional

The Scale

1/5 – Surprisingly Decent

The “still looks good for its age” face

  • Minimal wear
  • A few small marks
  • Overall tidy

In container terms:
Light scratches, minor dents, decent paint.

Closest you’ll get to “clean” in our world

2/5 – Clearly Used

The “you can tell it’s been around” face

  • Some wear showing
  • Slight roughness
  • Still presentable

In container terms:
Faded paint, light rust spots, a few dents.

Good balance of looks vs price

3/5 – Properly Ugly

The “definitely not new, but still solid” face

  • Noticeable wear
  • Rougher appearance
  • No hiding its age

In container terms:
Multiple dents, visible rust patches, worn paint.

Most common — and best value

4/5 – Rough as Guts

The “this thing’s had a life” face

  • Heavy wear
  • Clear damage
  • Looks well-used

In container terms:
Significant dents, rust, and cosmetic damage.

Cheap and tough — perfect for worksites

5/5 – Battle Scarred

The “been through everything and still standing” face

  • Maximum wear
  • Rough, beaten-up look
  • No pretending here

In container terms:
Heavy dents, rust throughout, very worn exterior.

Cheapest option — all function, zero looks
